MN Senate passes unemployment insurance trust fund restoration; MnRA urges House to act soon
A week ago the full Senate took up a bill authored by Senator Eric Pratt (SF 2677) using federal funds and the state surplus to pay off Minnesota's unemployment insurance federal debt and restore the trust fund to solvency this past Monday. The Senate passed the bill off of the floor on a bi-partisan vote of 55-11.
MnRA appreciates the quick action in the Senate and we support a full restoration of the unemployment insurance trust fund before premiums come due in the coming weeks. We urge the House to act before a March 15 deadline when employers will see large rate increases go in to effect. Members are urged to contact their House member and ask the House to pass the Senate bill! Click here to find your Representative.
